For those placing negative comments … the costs are by portion. No, salt and pepper doesn’t cost 5 cents. And you can go most places and find something somewhat healthy, even maybe McDonalds. As for milk, you can often find coupons to lower the cost, or you can find alternatives - I usually only buy soy or almond milk, which is usually cheaper or you can find coupons for them too. Same with meat and vegetables and the like. If I’m cooking with milk and it calls for a certain kind, I’ll buy only the amount I need. Also, buying in season produce can lower the cost - when it’s out of season they tend to steepen the costs a bit. Maybe I should do a post on how to eat healthy at fast food restaurants. I don’t mean to ruffle feathers, but a lot of people, even broke students who don’t live off Daddy’s money, like me, shun fast food in favour of foods that have a better quality and that they know where its been and how it was made. It all goes straight to even how the animal was raised and fed, for meat and dairy, and what treatments were used for produce. Your diet is up to you, but it’s really good to learn about nutrition and foods.
I just kinda liked this. My wife is Scottish, and therefore, we eat meatless dinners 4-5 times a week in order to keep the budget from (her words) hemorrhaging.
